10˝ inch Round Gratin
10˝ inch Round Gratin

This shallow, round baker is a great versatile clay pot for any kitchen. You’ll reach for it often to make sweet or savory gratins, baked casseroles, and fruit desserts. The terra cotta earthenware retains heat and browns food beautifully, creating that perfect golden crust or topping that always makes these types of dishes so appetizing. Its shape and size is also ideal as a pie plate for a classic American fruit pie. The larger of two sizes, this dish serves 8 to 10 people generously.

Opening 10½" x 2¼" H (27 cm x 6 cm). Because our pots are handmade, the actual dimensions may vary.

Bram exclusive

Did You Know Gratin originally referred to the crust that adhered to the cooking dish. The best part of the dish, it was always "scraped off" (gratee in French) and eaten.

Features & Benefits

  • Thick walled construction retains heat to keep foods warm on the table.
  • Terra cotta clay high fired at 2,000°F for strength, durability and chip resistance.
  • All our pieces are completely handmade, natural earthenware. Minor imperfections add authenticity and charm, and are part of the piece.
  • Easy to clean, hand-applied glaze.
  • Lead and cadmium free.

Use & Care

  • For oven use. Not designed for the stovetop.
  • Microwave safe.
  • Clear ceramic glaze provides ease of cleaning. For difficult areas to clean, first soak for a few minutes in water, then scrub with a soft abrasive pad. Do not use metallic scouring pads.
  • Dishwasher safe, but we recommend hand washing to give the best care to your earthenware. See our section Clay Cooking 101 for detailed explanations and effects of soaps and detergents on earthenware.
  • Earthenware does not like extreme temperature changes. For example, do not take a baker cold from the refrigerator and place it directly in a hot oven; it may crack.
  • Before first use, please season. A complete explanation of this procedure is explained in detail in Clay Cooking 101.
