This bowl's beautiful, rustic feel is reminiscent of something you might find in an old French farmhouse. Modeled after the traditional French tian - a clay work bowl used for hundreds of years in French kitchens for washing dishes or cooking. Made from high-fired terra cotta, it can also do double-duty as an oven bowl.

Completely handmade and hand finished, this bowl is glazed on the inside for ease of cleaning and finished on the outside with a terra cotta rub. This rub seals and strengthens the clay but allows the piece to keep its unglazed look after firing.

Did you know? Terra cotta translates to "cooked earth" in Italian, and is traditionally a red clay that fires hard and durable for cookware, bricks, tiles etc.

• Oven and microwave safe.
• Clear ceramic glaze provides ease of cleaning. For difficult areas to clean, first soak for a few minutes in water, then scrub with a soft abrasive pad.Do not use metallic scouring pads.

• Earthenware does not like extreme temperature changes. For example, do not take a bowl cold from the refrigerator and place it directly in a hot oven; it may crack.
